Bundesliga: Bayern Munich provides an explanation for the mistaken substitutions. they played with 12 players for a short time.
Bayern Munich beat Freiburg 1-4 as Sabitzer scored the last goal to put his club in commanding lead.

Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann blamed a mistake mostly on board for the substitution mix-up that left the champions playing with 12 players instead of 11 in the Saturday's 4-1 victory against Freiburg.

Kingsley Coman as well as Corentin Tolisso were about to be substituted for Marcel Sabitzer as well as Niklas Sule because when issue occurred inside the 86th minute.

Bayern Munich as well as the referee Christian Dingert both say that Coman continued to play after couple of seconds after the fourth official flashed the incorrect number for the French forward.

"The fourth official showed the wrong number," Nagelsmann told a news conference. "King [Coman] did not know he had to come off. It was eight or nine seconds I think that we played like that. It was not a game-deciding incident but still a bit weird.

"It is normal for fans to be discussing it," Nagelsmann said. "I know who is to blame but I will not name them and do you this favour. I am happy we won."

Christian Streich, Freiburg's coach, stated his squad would not be appealing: "I don't think we'll have to take anything to court. This is all I'm going to say about the matter."

Referee Dingert also said that he had documented the event inside the match report, even though it looked uncertain whether the Bavarians would face any repercussions.

"The wrong number was shown so the player Coman did not feel it was referring him. While clearing up the situation between team and the official it was neglected to take the player off. That is very annoying," referee Dingert added.

"We interrupted the game. It took a bit longer to clear it up. That is why we had eight minutes of stoppage time. We have noted that in the match report that this is what occurred.

"In the 16 seconds (Coman played on) not much happened and it is now up to the colleagues at the German Football Association."

Despite Leon Goretzka's goal which came in (58'min) in the opening minutes in to the second half, Freiburg's Nils Petersen quickly equalized for the hosts.

Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, as well as Marcel Sabitzer scored very late goals in (90+6'min) to put Bayern Munich in a commanding position in the Bundesliga championship battle.

Having six games remaining, Bayern Munich now leads the league by 9 points gap from second placed Dortmund who is with 57 points now in the league table.
